Of all the far-fetched things to happen in the course of Donald Trump’s (sad!) quest to find a famous performer for his upcoming inauguration, rumors of an Ice T performance might be the most far-fetched. But considering how unusual this election cycle has been—with shocking new developments unfolding nearly every day (we can see Russia from our inbox)—perhaps anything seemed possible. It also didn’t help that the person who started the Ice T rumor was . . . Ice T himself.
On Thursday, the rapper and Law and Order star tweeted that he “just got call to perform at the Inauguration,” adding that he “didn’t pick up and Blocked the number.”

Nugent, a conservative rock artist, is one of few musicians who publicly supported Trump during his campaign. Same goes for Kid Rock, who brought us such classics as “Bawitdaba.” Kanye West also recently met with Trump, possibly to discuss a potential role in his administration.
Ice T's tweet, therefore, set off a flurry of responses, because we are now living in the upside down. The rapper let the joke stew for a couple hours before finally shutting it down with another tweet on Friday.

Ah, succinct and to the point. Your dreams of seeing Odafin Tutuola wreck a presidential set with “Cop Killer” will just have to wait another four years. In the meantime, prepare for the soaring voice of opera prodigy Jackie Evancho, who will perform the national anthem at the inauguration.
